Spinning
faster and faster
toward your own doom.
Doing your dance of self-destruction,
leaping past everyone.
We try to catch you before you fall,
but you soar past us.
We sit mesmerized
waiting for the inevitable moment
when you smash into that wall.
You shatter into a million pieces.
The shards slicing through everyone's hearts.
We lay dying, bleeding for you,
watching your bright light grow dim.
This is a poem about a friend who recently got into a little bit of trouble. I hope now that she sees that her life has been heading toward a not-so-good place. I hope now that she has opened her eyes and can see that people around her care for her deeply and that, if nothing else, she will always have me as a friend no matter what happens.

This is a good poem. It's great how you used the different expressions and figurative language; they work really well. It sends a powerful message.
(Hopefully things with your friend have gotten better.)
